Hansi Flick's side arrive off the back of a 5-0 demolition of Valencia away at Mestalla in LaLiga on 6 September. Lamine Yamal scored twice, with Fermín López, Raphinha and Pedri also on the scoresheet — a front line operating at a level that makes Barcelona clear favourites to open their European campaign with a home win.
Feyenoord's European Return Under an Old Friend
Feyenoord travel to Catalonia full of confidence themselves, having beaten NEC Nijmegen 3-1 away in the Eredivisie on 5 September after a goalless first half — Gjivai Zechiël, Luciano Valente and Jerayno Schaken all scoring in the second period. The Dutch side are managed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a former Barcelona player making an emotional return to Camp Nou in the opposite dugout. Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie last season to secure this Champions League spot, and their squad features rising talent Shaqueel van Persie — son of Robin van Persie — alongside forwards Ayase Ueda and Anis Hadj Moussa.

A Rare European Reunion
Barcelona and Feyenoord have met only once before in Europe, in the second round of the 1974/75 European Cup — a goalless draw in Rotterdam followed by a 3-0 Barcelona win in the return leg at Camp Nou. More than half a century later, this Champions League meeting is the first time the two historic clubs have faced each other on the continental stage since.
The Tactical Picture
Both sides favour aggressive, front-foot football, but Barcelona hold a clear edge in individual quality and home advantage. Feyenoord's defence — anchored by Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Jeremiah St. Juste — will face sustained pressure from Yamal and Raphinha, and how well they hold up early will likely shape the rest of the night. Feyenoord's own attacking form suggests they won't sit back completely, which could open up space in behind for Barcelona to exploit on the counter-transition too.
